Magnum is a progressive rock band from Birmingham, England that was founded in 1972 by Tony Clarkin, Bob Catley, Kex Gorin and Bob Doyle. After gigging around and collecting a local following, the band signed with Jet Records and released its debut album Kingdom of Madness, in 1978. The band's most successful stint began in the early 1980s, with its third LP Chase the Dragon, and lasted over several albums throughout the decade. Though Magnum's lineup has seen significant changes since its formation, vocalist Bob Catley and guitarist/songwriter Tony Clarkin have remained at the core of the project, driving the band forward well into the 21st century with releases including the 2012 album, On the 13th Day.
