Glenn Branca was an American avant-garde musician who is probably best known for his innovative guitar work as well as his forward-thinking composing technique. Interested in experimental sounds from an early age, Branca made his first sound art at age 15 when he created a tape collage, blending, splicing and blurring several different sounds together to create an original piece of work. Though Branca has created a multitude of sound exhibitions, the original work he has done with a guitar, by detuning it, droning it and altering the harmonic series of it, has brought Branca to the forefront of many conversations discussing modern avant-garde music.
