Quintessentially British band Comet Gain came about in the early 1990s with ex-Huggy Bear guitarist Jon Slade and es-Morrissey drummer Woodie Taylor. Combining sweet Britpop with more swirling shoegaze-styled arrangements, and evidently influenced by British psych, twee and DIY punk, the group produced music both characteristic of the era and charmingly fresh. While the band changed its lineup fairly regularly up until settling on a solid lineup in 1997--and still has a fairly elastic group of musicians that aid the band--Comet Gain's sound has remained consistent to present-day.
