Under his Vladislav Delay guise, Finnish electronic producer Sasu Ripatti creates avant-garde tracks that touch on minimal variations of house, dub and ambient music. He was raised in northern Finland on a steady diet of classical and jazz music before growing old enough to take to percussion and drumming. His newly developed passion for exploring beats and rhythm eventually led Ripatti to electronic forms, which he would couple with the studied and improvisational aspects of classical and jazz to form experimental soundscapes that had little to do with electronic music coming out of Europe's clubs at the time. Ripatti creates music that is densely packed with ideas and executed with heady production chops that beg to be listened to on a solid pair of headphones.
