One part performance artist, one part musician, Janine Rostron, who performs under the PLANNINGTOROCK moniker, knows how to put on an intriguing live performance. With each album, the Berlin-via-Manchester musician chooses a role and becomes it, even when it requires slightly creepy makeup and costuming. Rostron also has a knack for creating diverse music of a high caliber, blending carnivalesque rock with chamber pop, electronica with soul, or spacey synth with delicate piano. While PLANNINGTOROCK had built a fairly devoted following already, it was with the release of the collaborative album with The Knife and Mt. Sims--an operatic collection of songs--that PLANNINGTOROCK began receiving widespread attention.
