Seams is the working moniker of British electronic artist James Welch. Inspired by chillwave, glitch and ambient pop, the Birmingham musician's music retains a certain level of organic craft despite its purely electronic nature. His songs utilize psychedelic blends of spliced samples, manipulated instrumentation and laid-back, shuffling beats, creating a sort of kaleidoscopic effect that has helped him emerge from the busy pack of bedroom producers in the UK. Welch seems to always try to convey a sense of place and time in his music, often creating song or album themes that tie his work together. His Tourist EP, for instance, was built around field recordings and laptop beats he created while living in Berlin for a summer.
