Braid is an American emo/post-hardcore band from Champaign, Illinois, formed in 1993. The band consists of Bob Nanna (vocals, guitar), Chris Broach (guitar, vocals), Todd Bell (bass) and Damon Atkinson (drums). Braid is widely considered to be one of the pioneers of the emo/post-hardcore genre, and their influence can be heard in many of today's bands. Braid's discography includes five studio albums, two EPs, and a compilation album. Their debut album, "Frame & Canvas", was released in 1998 and is considered to be one of the most influential albums of the emo/post-hardcore genre. The album was followed by "No Coast" in 2014, which was their first album in 16 years. The band has also released two EPs, "The Age of Octeen" in 1996 and "Movie Music Vol. 1" in 1997. Braid has toured extensively throughout their career, performing in the US, Europe, and Japan. They have also performed at several major music festivals, including the Vans Warped Tour, Riot Fest, and the Reading and Leeds Festivals. Braid has also collaborated with several other bands, including The Get Up Kids, The Promise Ring, and Rainer Maria. Braid's music is characterized by their melodic, yet powerful sound, and their thoughtful, introspective lyrics. Their music has been praised for its emotional depth and its ability to capture the feelings of longing and nostalgia. Braid's music has been a major influence on the emo/post-hardcore genre, and their legacy continues to live on in the music of today.
