Solo project of Pete Nolan, drummer for noise rock band Magik Markers, that occasionally incorporates a rotating cast of backing musicians, Spectre Folk creates the type of music that one might expect from a band with that name: heavily-reverbed, haunting psyche-folk. Since conceiving the project in 1999, Brooklyn-based Nolan has put out a small sampling of singles and a few LPs on various labels, which have garnered Spectre Folk an underground following. Though the group has never reached mainstream popularity or even indie stardom, Nolan seems content traveling the globe and interpreting his experiences into the music of Spectre Folk while running his Arbitrary Signs record label and still drumming for his primary band.
