Singer/songwriter Danny Barnes, known for his talent on the banjo, began his career as front-man of the Austin-based alternative country band Bad Livers, which gained Barnes notoriety as a respectable musician. Since moving to Washington in 2000, Barnes disbanded the Bad Livers, and began producing solo work, which has received acclaim from a good deal of prominent musicians. Barnes incorporation of bluegrass, cow-punk and folk into his banjo-heavy americana has also drawn in a wide variety of fans and allowed him to share the stage or work with everyone from the Butthole Surfers to Bela Fleck to Lyle Lovett. While Barnes musical credits are extensive, he is perhaps most noted for his 'folkTronics' project, which involved experimental forays into the world of electronics and allowed Barnes to dramatically expand the tonal range of his banjo and thus diversify his sound even further.
