Kaizers Orchestra is an alternative rock band from Bryne, Norway that has risen to become one of the few (non-black metal) acts produced by the country to sing in Norwegian and still become popular outside of Scandinavia. Kaizers Orchestra style can be seen as an original amalgamation of alt rock and European folk music, with the band members taking an almost literary approach to crafting songs that introduce characters and plots that intertwine with other albums and songs in their discography. The band's critically acclaimed debut album, Ompa til du dør (Ompa till you die) was released in 2001 and did a great deal to secure Kaizers Orchestra's place as one of Norway's premier rock acts, and also garnered for the band a Spellemannpris, the Norwegian equivalent of a Grammy, in 2002 for "Best Rock Album." Following its massive debut success, Kaizers Orchestra went on to release several more acclaimed albums on top of tours across Europe that have many hailing the band as one of Europe's best live acts.
