A Grave With No Name

A Grave With No Name is a difficult band to categorize. The trio, led by front man and primary songwriter Alex Shields, shifts easily from anthemic garage-meets-proto punk, to dark acoustic bedroom pop, to rampaging shitgaze. The only consistent element is a thick fog of reverb, particularly evident in Shields' hazy falsetto, that somehow manages to tie the divergent styles together. While the British band certainly pulls off some of these styles better than others, its general aesthetic works well.
