Combining smokey jazz settings with a pop vocal approach, Erin Bode has garnered positive comparisons to well-known artists such as Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy. The St. Louis, Missouri-based singer began to perform and record her music in 2001, originally focusing mainly on interpreting jazz and pop standards with her smooth, pitch-perfect voice. Eventually, however, Bode started to pen her own tunes, including 2004's fairly well received "Don't Take Your Time." Though her voice is always at the forefront, Bode's music is equally impressive for the music her band mates create to support it. Jazzy piano licks, brushed drums and occasional light horn lines tastefully add to her vocal arrangements, lending a distinct late-night jazz club vibe to the proceedings.
