A descendant of 2000s blues rock revivalist groups like The White Stripes and The Black Keys, Amplified Heat is a power trio based out of Austin, Texas. The band is comprised of three Colombian-American brothers--Jim, Gian and Chris Ortiz. Loud, distorted guitar work with shades of punk rock propels the brothers' melding of blues and garage rock, even managing to work in some metal influences. In fact, lead singer/guitarist, Jim, possesses a voice reminiscent of the raw, gruff vocals of Lemmy Kilmister, leader of the legendary 1970s and 1980s speed metal band Motorhead. The band uses all authentic vintage amps, drums and guitars from the 1960s, further adding to its retro-minded sound.
