The Silent Comedy is a Los Angeles-based indie pop band with retro-minded leanings towards 1970s classic rock and folk. A project originally started around 1996 between brothers Jeremiah (piano/guitar/vocals) and Joshua (bass/vocals) Zimmerman, The Silent Comedy really took off once it established itself as a solidified five-piece in 2006. Warm Wurlitzer pianos, banjo, harmonica and rich three-part harmonies populate the band's songs and mesh well with the more modern aspects of its instrumentation. The band is clearly influenced by countrified rock and folk akin to The Band and The Allman Brothers, and as such have been lumped in with the recent crop of that era's revivalists, such as the Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, Delta Spirit and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.
