Robert Alfons is a Toronto-based musician who creates a distinctive style of electronically-charged synthpop under his Trust moniker. Originally founded as a duo in 2010 with longtime Toronto musician Maya Postepski, Trust crafts songs by pairing sluggish synth chugs with haunting vocal accompaniments and languid rhythms to create a surprisingly danceable style of of music with an underlying dark timbre. Shortly after the group released its debut album, 2012's TRST, Postepski parted ways with Alfons so she could focus her musical attention on her other group, the noted electropop act Austra.
