A respected multi-instrumentalist, Erik Hall toured with multiple bands, playing various instruments - including NOMO, His Name is Alive and Saturday Looks Good to Me - before holing up in his Chicago apartment, maxing out his credit card to buy recording equipment and self-producing a solo album. The resulting album was released under the moniker In Tall Buildings, both a reference to a John Hartford song and the high-rise apartment complex he recorded his album in. Recording all of the instrumentals and looping his vocals into reverbed harmonies, Hall manages to sound like a full band adept at creating delicate indie folk that walks the line of the chamber pop genre.
