Sampha is an electronic musician from the Morden district of London who has become a sort of local legend for bringing the sounds of the lesser known area of London to national, and soon, international prominence. However, Sampha feels that his music was created more as an escape from the rather old-fashioned doldrums of his community, and his music's dreamy melodies and floating rhythms definitely speak to musical flights of the imagination as opposed to the more gritty, street-inspired realism that tends to inspire his contemporaries. Having achieved a healthy amount of recognition as of late, the young Sampha is looking to be one of the most understated front runners on London's vibrant independent music scene.
