Despite forming in Annapolis, Maryland in 2008, Dirty Names sounds more like it was founded in the American south during the 1960s, at the height of Memphis sound. With classic pop hooks, straightforward harmonies and plenty of opportunities for piano and guitar solos, the five-piece is just as likely to appeal to a college party crowd as it is to their parents. Seeking to bring rock and roll back to the forefront of a culture increasingly fascinated by autotuned and over-produced acts, Dirty Names succeeds in hearkening back to an era focused more on musical talent and the rocking energy of a live show.
