Born in New York City Peter Bernstein initially began playing piano before switching to guitar. Going to study music at Rutgers University and the New School under the tutelage of respected jazz figures Ted Dunbar and Kenny Barron, Bernstein would go on to appear as a side man on albums from Jesse Davis, Lou Donaldson and Larry Goldings before releasing his debut solo album, Somethin's Burnin', in 1993. Having since kept active, Bernstein has continued to release LPs, perform regularly and collaborate with notables from the modern jazz scene.
