Born Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong, Dido is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who emerged in the wave of alternative female artists in 1990s. A few years after her 1995 debut album Odds & Ends, she released her breakthrough album No Angel, in 1999. With the help of rapper Eminem, who sampled her song "Thank You" in his hit song "Stan," No Angel became a top-selling album world-wide and ushered in widespread mainstream attention. Dido continued to earn critical acclaim into the 2000s, particularly for her 2008 record Safe Trip Home, and has since been nominated for several industry awards including an Academy Award for the track "if I Rise."
