Myung-whun Chung is a concert pianist and conductor from Seoul, South Korea whose extensive career as one of the world's most respected and talented classical musicians has earned for him his country's highest honor, the Gold Crown Order of Cultural Merit. His achievements abroad are also extensive, of which being awarded a place in France's prestigious Légion d'Honneur stands perhaps as his most significant international recognition. Chung has created numerous recordings for the classical music label Deutsche Grammophon of his performances with various orchestras throughout the world, many of which have also earned numerous awards and significant critical acclaim. Now the principal conductor and musical director for the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Myung-whun Chung continues to impress audiences with his stoicism and skill as a musician both in his native South Korea and abroad.
