Ava Luna is a New York-based band, formed in 2006, that blends doo-wop vocal harmonies, vintage synth grooves and modern indie pop sonic aesthetics to create a well-rounded style of music that's perfectly suited for the labyrinthine-like New York arts scene. With three female backup vocalists and a singer/songwriter with a distinctively modern male crooning approach, Ava Luna manages to be a group that writes tunes with vocals acting as the centerpiece and launching pad for nearly all the band's songs. The group's debut album was released in 2007 and helped establish Ava Luna as one of the more interesting bands in the New York indie scene that's willing to experiment with its unique sound in order to create songs that are worthy of repeated listens.
