Few electronic groups are able to attain the level of mainstream popularity that British outfit The Orb has. Formed in 1988, The Orb went on to pioneer a unique sound that blended surreal sonic landscapes with four-on-the-floor drum beats. Throughout the 1990s, the group was one of the biggest experimental groups in the world and even earned the title "The 1990s answer to Pink Floyd." While the band has since receded from the general listening public's gaze, The Orb is still as talented as ever and is continuing to push the boundaries of electronic song craft.
