College is the moniker used by French electronic musician David Grellier when he releases music and performs live. Growing up in the 1980s, with the decade's shiny synth sheen permeating a large amount of popular music, left a strong impression on young Grellier. Purchasing his first computer at the end of the 1990s, Grellier was instantly taken with the nearly infinite possibilities that electronic composition via computer composing offered. Listening to a lot of experimental electronic producers like Aphex Twin and Jeff Mills, Grellier started to make his own music that blended his love of glossy and highly produced electropop with more avant-garde sensibilities. Releasing his debut album, Secret Diary, in 2009, under his College alias, the French musician received praise for his interesting sound not only from European listeners, but also from American music connoisseurs as well.
