Gandhi Jayanti

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), fondly called Mahatma Gandhi, was one of the main figures in India's struggle for independence. His main motto was non-violence, and using that ideology he succeeded in overthrowing British rule. His birthday is a national holiday all over India and is commemorated worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.
