Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, singer/songwriter Anna von Hausswolff could be considered a part of the American tradition of eccentric voices that prefers dissonance as much as resonance. Lead by her piano, von Hausswolff's songs are often accompanied by string instruments to flesh out her sound. von Hausshwolff's first record Singing from the Grave came out in May of 2010 and featured the well-liked singles "Pills" and "Above All." Quirky like Joni Mitchell, but with a high vocal range, von Hausswolff's voice captures a broad and stirring emotional range that warrant both avant-garde and pop descriptors.
