Once home to the Maharaja of Patiala, Oakover is currently the official residence of the honorable chief minister of the state of Himachal Pradesh. Depending on which ruling party wins the state elections, the chief minister changes accordingly. Oakover has played host to numerous political dignitaries such as the Congress party's president, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. Today, this is where the most important political and economic decisions of Himachal Pradesh are taken.
