Originally known as Flagstaff house, this historic building was once the home of the Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces. Once India gained its independence, it became the residence of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, who consequently named it Teen Murti Bhavan after the Teen Murti memorial statue. Following his demise, the house was converted into a national memorial housing both a library and a museum. In 1984, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi inaugurated the Nehru Planetarium within the Bhavan, one of the five planetariums that exists in the city. The Sky Theater of the planetarium hosts regular screenings and is often used as a gallery. The House is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday.
