This bamboo forest monastery, with its boat-shaped temple, was founded in 1927 in the well-wooded foothills above Tsuen Wan. With the exception of the Big Buddha on Lantau, the monastery's three Buddha statues are the biggest in Hong Kong. Yeuk Si Fat and Amitabha, rulers of the Eastern and Western Paradise, sit either side of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism. Vegetarian meals can be arranged for visitors.
