Over his long and storied career, Neil Young has participated in a wide array of musical endeavors. He started as a solo musician in his home country, Canada, before enlisting in the ranks of the psychedelic folk outfit Buffalo Springfield, where he added a distinct tone to the band with his characteristic electric guitar playing. After Buffalo Springfield disbanded, Young found himself as a rouge agent in the myriad of rock bands that existed in Los Angeles during the late 1960s. When the folk ensemble Crosby, Stills & Nash asked Young to step on board as a full type member he accepted and the group was aptly renamed Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. After releasing a string a successful albums with the group, contentions started to arise and Young decided to leave. His leave of absence from the renowned group would not hinder his solo career, though; in fact it would do the opposite. Without three other musicians trying to direct the path of his music, Young was free to do as he pleased and over his decades-long career he has covered many grounds including grunge, country, alt-folk and psychedelia.
